Guidelines for head control in children with cerebral palsy

In the process of comprehensive rehabilitation treatment for children with cerebral palsy, the focus should be on the implementation of head control training. In order to effectively ensure that children do head up action, children need to do neck muscle training action, the specific steps are mainly reflected in the following aspects:

1. Supine position - take the center position of the head

The child was asked to take the supine position, the head was taken to the median position, and then the relevant exercise was carried out. If the head is tilted to one side and the neck of the child does a roundabout movement, it will induce the child to perform asymmetric neck reflex action, which will have a very serious impact on the normal movement and the symmetry of the posture.

2. Lie on your back -- your neck is firmly upright

Ask the child to be in a supine position, ensure that the child's neck is firmly upright, and turn the head to the side.

Select a toy (brightly colored) and place it in front of the patient at a distance of 10 to 20 cm. Move the toy, ask the child to chase, and you can choose to ring the bell to amuse the child.

When the head of the child turned from the side to the median position, the retention time was required to be 2, 5 and 10 s, respectively, and the time was gradually extended. After effectively completing the above actions, encourage the child.

3. Sit -- Keep your head upright

Ask the child to take a sitting position, ensure that the child's head remains upright for training, and then hold the child on the knee, prohibit the child's head to do forward bending against the chest, and ensure that the child's head takes an upright position.

If the child's head is tilted backward, the body is arched and complete to the back, the child is required to bend both knees, reach forward with both arms, lean the head against the parents' chest and bend forward slightly to relieve the tension of the patient's body flexion.

4. Pull your training head upright

Pick up the child and put it on the parents, and the parents lie down with their back cushions and their legs flexed. The child lies reclining on the legs of the parents, the head is placed on the knee of the parents, and when the parents pull up the hands of the child with both hands, keep the elbow of the child straight, so that the head and torso are raised to sit up, and the neck is exercised. You can also let the child raise his head and stick to his knee again, and then pull it up repeatedly.
